Sending out invitations is more of an automated process than it used to be. Many of us print labels for addresses or it’s printed directly on the envelope. While this saves a great deal of time, we’ve lost the personal touch and contact in sending out invitations as we had years ago.
Unless it’s for a small, intimate gathering as it might be if you’re sending out wedding shower invitations, you’ll likely be using some form of faster method to address envelopes. If this is the case, make sure your address list is current. This seems obvious but contacts are easily added to computer files and we seldom use many of those mailing addresses. It may have been years since some have been updated. Especially if you’re sending out invitations for a fiftieth anniversary or a wedding, you might be sending to relatives and friends whose addresses haven’t been ‘tested’ by mail in several years. Do some checking to verify addresses before you do an expensive mailing.
Of course, if you’re hand addressing your invitations, you still need current addresses but you’ll have individual contact with each address and it’s easier to catch mistakes as you’re working on each invitation.
